Start off in the lovely city of Halifax and visit great museums, restaurants and pubs, and fascinating historical sites. Tour through the fertile Annapolis Valley, travel the incredible 300-km-long Cabot Trail and take in beautiful ocean and mountain views.

If you love the freedom and adventure of the open road, then a Fly & Drive vacation is just what you need. Fly into Halifax and drive your way through the experience of discovering parts of Canada one kilometer at a time. The car rental and hotel stays are included in the package, along with a bunch of other travel essentials that will help make this trip easy, fun, and unforgettable.

Suggested Itinerary

The day-to-day locations are already set and hotel accommodations will already be booked, but what you do during the day in each town or city is completely up to you. Below is a suggested itinerary of things to do and see so you can get the most out of your adventure. The beauty of this trip is that you can explore the country the way you want to. Just make sure to get to the hotel on time!

Day 1       Fly to Halifax
Fly to Halifax, pick up your rental car and check into your hotel. The lovely capital is your home base for the next three nights.

Day 2       South Shore (250 km)
Head out to the picturesque South Shore. Take the Lighthouse Route to historic Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stop in the village of Mahone Bay before reaching Peggy's Cove, the most photographed village in Canada.

Day 3       Annapolis Valley (180-420 km)
Another day of exploration takes you to Port-Royal and Grand-Pré in the heart of the ancestral Acadian homeland. You can also visit an Annapolis Valley vineyard for a tour and a tasting.

Day 4       Halifax - Sydney (405 km)
Take a guided tour of downtown Halifax, including photo stops at the entrance of the famous Citadel. Wander the historical and port districts of the largest city in the Maritimes before setting out for Sydney on Cape Breton Island.

Day 5       Cabot Trail (470 km)
Travel the Cabot Trail today. This winding mountainous road is 300 km long. Enjoy the ocean and mountain views, several observation towers, a national park, and many opportunities to view wildlife.

Day 6       Sydney - Halifax (405 km)
Sydney was a former industrial port now revitalized with a seafront boardwalk and marina. Enjoy a casual morning here before returning to Halifax.

Day 7       Fly home
Drop your car off at the airport before boarding your flight home.

Halifax City Tour
Customers have a choice of one of two tours in the package price. Booking instructions will be included on the service vouchers sent prior to departure. Tour is operated in English.

Car Rental

Inclusions:  Intermediate Category C (4 Door). Time (24 hrs basis), Unlimited kilometres, Loss damage waiver (LDW), CAD $1Million third party liability insurance coverage, One (1) additional driver, Provincial & other taxes, GPS, Airport contract fees and Air conditioning on all vehicles equipped with air conditioning.

Exclusions: Fuel; Personal accident insurance plus (PAI Plus) & Personal effects protection (PEP); Other optional services such as refueling charges, applicable one-way service fees, extra additional driver’s fee, baby seats, ski racks, etc.; Additional driver fee is CA$10.00 per day per additional driver up to a max of CA$50.00 per rental, per driver, where applicable; All rates are subject to change without notice and are payable at rental counter. Anything not specifically noted above. Driver credit card required to collect rental car.

Minimum age for car rental is 21 with a prepaid voucher. A valid driver's license from country of origin must be presented at time of rental. All drivers under the age of 25 will be subject to a surcharge of CA$25.00 per day; subject to change. Certain car classes may not be available to drivers under age 25.
