Suggested Itinerary

The day-to-day locations are already set and hotel accommodations will already be booked, but what you do during the day in each town or city is completely up to you. Below is a suggested itinerary of things to do and see so you can get the most out of your adventure. The beauty of this trip is that you can explore the country the way you want to. Just make sure to get to the hotel on time!

Day 1       Fly to Quebec City

Fly to Quebec City and pick up your rental car. Take the rest of the day to explore La Capitale Nationale.

Day 2       Quebec City - Matane (410 km)
Journey along the Saint Lawrence to Matane. Be sure to stop at the wonderful Reford Gardens, and don't
miss out on fresh Matane shrimp and seafood.

Day 3       Matane - Gaspé (330 km)
Follow one of the most scenic drives in Quebec, through picturesque villages, on your way to the vast Gulf of Saint Lawrence. Stop as often as you like to try local products, or to visit a traditional smoke house. Stop in Forillon National Park to see the dramatic cliffs over the gulf and to stretch your legs on any number of hiking trails.

Day 4       Gaspé - Percé (55 km)
Enjoy the morning to discover the city of Gaspé, the largest city on the Gaspé Peninsula. Continue to Percé for a cruise to the famous Percé Rock, the greatest symbol of the Gaspé, as well as Bonaventure Island and its colony of Northern gannets. With over 120,000 birds, it's the largest colony in the world. In the evening, discover the handicrafts, restaurants and lively town centre of Percé.

Day 5       Percé - Carleton-sur-mer (210 km)
Head to Chaleur Bay on the southern side of the peninsula. On your way, you'll cross several salmon rivers; Bonaventure River is well worth a stop. As much as the north side of the peninsula offers a wild panorama, Chaleur Bay is peaceful and relaxing. The charming small villages continue up to Carleton-sur-mer, your destination for the night.

Day 6       Carleton-sur-mer - Rimouski (300 km)
Today, cross the peninsula from south to north through the beautiful valley of the Matapedia River. Rimouski is a thriving city, very much alive and connected to nature. Not far from the city centre, Bic National Park is ideal for a hike at sunset to discover capes, islands and mountains on the edge of
the Saint Lawrence.

Day 7       Rimouski - Quebec City (320 km)
Head back to Quebec City on the south side of the Saint Lawrence. You'll pass through several charming towns along the way.

Day 8       Fly home
Drop your car off at the airport and board your flight home.
