Hotel description

The Gran Meliá Palacio de los Duques, is located in the the heart of Madrid’s historical centre. It has been created by the joining of two iconic buildings from very different periods, both examples of the capital’s growth and reflections of two pillars of society of their times: the power of the Church in the 13th century, with the Convent of Santo Domingo, and the aristocracy of the 19th century, with the Palace of the Dukes of Granada de Ega y Villahermosa. The dukes, both art collectors and members of the intelligentsia of mid-19th century society, were passionate about the works of Velázquez, some of whose paintings were donated to the Museo del Prado. Their passion for art can be sensed in every corner. In addition to the façade, the interior retains original features, including the doors, the floor and the staircase decorated with the Palace’s original colours.
