Arrive in Scotland and pick up your rental car. Head into Edinburgh to check into your hotel. Spend your first day wandering the charming city streets and settling in to Scottish life.
Day 3
Edinburgh (5-day Historic Scotland Explorer Pass)
Edinburgh's attractions await! Scotland's capital is considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Historic Scotland Explorer Pass: Using your pass, visit Edinburgh Castle, with its dramatic views of the city. Your entrance fee includes a viewing of the Scottish Crown Jewels and the famed Stone of Destiny.

Day 4
Edinburgh - Falkland - Speyside Area (approx. 200 km)
Hit the road for the village of Falkland. Falkland Village is so beautifully preserved that it is used as the backdrop of 1940s Inverness in the Outlander television series. Drive on to the Speyside area to check into your hotel for the night.

Historic Scotland Explorer Pass: Your Explorer Pass includes entrance to the Falkland Palace a well worth a stop. Continue to Newtonmore to visit the Highland Folk Museum and delve into 18th-century Scottish history.

Day 5
Speyside Area - Inverness Area (approx. 50 km)
After breakfast, depart for Inverness to view the ancient burial monument of Clava Cairns, which inspired the story of Craig na D - the mystical stones that swept the main character in the Outlander series back in time. Drive on to the town of Culloden, where characters Claire and Jamie part, and make your way to Inverness. Check into your hotel and spend the night in the Inverness area.

Day 6
Inverness Area - Strathpeffer - Inverness Area (approx. 40 km)
Today, immerse yourself in the towns of Strathpeffer and Beauly, where clans Mackenzie and Fraser once lived in the Outlander series. Strathpeffer is a charming Victorian spa village, famous for its healing waters and home to the sixth-century carved Eagle Stone. Continue towards Beauly Priory where the Frasers of Lovat are buried in the Outlander books. Return to your hotel for the night.

Day 7
Inverness Area - Fort William Area (approx. 105 km)
Drive south and stop to visit Urquhart Castle on Loch Ness. Drive along the Caledonian Canal and follow the Great Glen to Fort William. Spend the night in the Fort William area.

Fort William Area - Glasgow (approx. 200 km)
Continue south, and drive towards the village of Glencoe, past the scene of the 1692 massacre of the MacDonald clan by soldiers of King William. The mountains of Glencoe offer superb walking and climbing, as well as breathtaking views.
