Welcome to Lisbon

Upon arrival in Lisbon, meet your private deluxe transfer to your hotel and check in. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 3

Lisbon – Estoril – Cascais – Cabo da Roca - Sintra: Sightseeing (approx. 93 km)

After breakfast, meet your driver and head off to the sunny coastal towns of Estoril and Cascais. Continue to the famous Cabo da Roca and lastly, to Sintra. You will enjoy a gourmet lunch with wine in this UNESCO World Heritage town before visiting the Pena Palace. Upon your return to Lisbon, your guide will show you the most illustrious sites like the Jerónimos Monastery, the Belém Tower, and the Monument to the Discoveries.

Day 4

Lisbon – Evora – Marvao – Castelo de Vide – Belmonte (approx. 424 km): Sightseeing

After breakfast, leave Lisbon and head east through the Alentejo region. Stop at Evora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site dating from the Roman era.  Walk along narrow streets lined with whitewashed houses and see Giraldo Square, the Cathedral and Church of São Francisco and the Roman Temple. Drive to the medieval walled city of Marvao, located on a hill near the Spanish border. Continue north and stop at Belmonte.

Day 5

Belmonte – Viseu – Lamego – Pinhao – Vila Real – Amarante (approx. 272 km) : Sightseeing

After breakfast, explore the historical village of Belmonte. Head toward the wine-making region along the Douro River. Continue west for your last stop and overnight stay in the town of Amarante, next the Tamega River.

  • Stop at Lamego for a visit to the sacred Shrine of Our Lady of Remedies. Continue to the Douro Valley, and visit the museum in Peso da Régua . Continue to Pinhao, see the beautiful historical train station and embark on a small boat tour. Drive to Vila Real for a visit to Mateus Palace, an 18th-century Baroque manor house.

Day 6

Amarante – Guimaraes – Braga – Ponte de Lima – Viana do Castelo (approx. 147 km): - Sightseeing

After breakfast, tour the city centre of Amarante.  Proceed to Guimaraes, the cradle of Portugal, with a unique historical centre that’s a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. Continue on to the Minho region and visit Braga, one of the oldest religious cities in the world. Visit the sanctuaries that constitute the religious route known as the Triangle of Faith: The Cathedral and the Sanctuaries of Sameiro and Bom Jesus. Visit the town of Barcelos before heading to Ponte de Lima, famous for its intricate embroidery. Your last stop is Viana do Castelo where you’ll check in to your hotel.

Day 7

Viana do Castelo – Porto (approx. 78 km)

After breakfast spend some time in Viana do Castelo. Travel down the coast passing Vila do Conde and arrive in Porto.

Guided Excursion to Porto:
  • Visit the amazing city on the banks of the Douro River, known for its varied monuments, its traditions and the cultural wealth that have designated it a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Afterwards, visit the Cathedral, the neoclassical Stock Exchange Palace and the São Bento train station. Lastly, tour a Port wine cellar and sample some rich wine flavours.

Day 8

Porto – Aveiro – Buçaco Forest and Coimbra (approx. 160 km)

After breakfast, meet your private driver and head to Aveiro to visit the “Venice of Portugal,” where you will see the 15th-century Cathedral of Aveiro and the Convent of Jesus. Move on to the Buçaco Forest and Coimbra. See the legendary buildings, including a baroque clock tower, the fabulous Joanine Library and the Church and Convent of Santa Cruz. Check in at your hotel.

Day 9

Coimbra – Batalha – Alcobaça – Nazarée – Obidos – Lisbon (approx. 246 km)

Leave Coimbra in the morning and drive to Leiria for a short stop at the 16th-century Cathedral and at the medieval castle.  Next visit Batalha, the 15th-century Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitória.  Continue to the Monastery of Alcobaca, Portugal’s largest church before heading to Nazaré, a picturesque fishing village. Here, you can visit the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Nazaré, drive up to Sitio to admire one of the most beautiful views of the Portuguese coast.  Your last stop before Lisbon is Obidos, a walled medieval village, now a carefully preserved, authentic museum.
