Welcome to Montreal

Pick up your rental car at Montreal airport and make your way to the historic heart of Montreal. The city is renowned for its excellent shopping, fine restaurants, lively nightlife, rich culture and history.

Day 2

Montreal: At leisure

Highlights today may include Notre Dame Cathedral, old Montreal with its cobbled streets and outdoor restaurants, the old port, St Joseph Oratory and one of the best shopping streets in Canada, St. Catherine's. The diversity of the city"s resident population is evident in the kitchens, chic restaurants and casual eateries. Bring-your-own-wine restaurants near Prince Arthur Street are especially popular.

Day 3

Montreal - Trois-Rivieres (141 km)

Your destination for tonight is Trois-Rivieres, the gateway to the Mauricie region at the confluence of the Saint-Maurice and Saint Lawrence Rivers. In mid-August take a detour to Les fêtes gourmandes de Lanaudière held in Saint-Jacques. Under a big tent you will find food tasting, chefs at work, bistro, workshops, entertainment, and more. Otherwise you may wish to stop in the small town of Lanoraie where a public market of local farmers and artisans of the Lanaudière region is held between late June and early September.

Trois-Rivieres - Quebec City (129 km)

For the true gourmet, Québec City is a rendezvous with fine cuisine and delights for all tastes. The wide variety of culinary specialties available and the high standards set by its chefs have given Québec City a reputation that goes far beyond its borders. Those who are entranced by history will be charmed by restaurants tucked into homes dating from the 18th and 19th centuries in Old Québec City and the Portneuf area, on the Beaupré Coast or in ancestral homes on île d'Orléans. During spring, visitors can taste a typical Québec specialty at a sugar shack.

Quebec City: At leisure

Today, you may wish to go to Ile d'Orleans situated 5 km down-river from Quebec City. Known as the "Garden of Quebec", the Island has for many years provided Quebec City with fresh produce, cereals, and maple products. Some of the many choices to visit are: The Cheese Dairy, Le Domaine Orleans/The Cider House, Poissonnerie Jos Paquet/The Fish Shop, Les Marches Pouliot & Filles Inc. Fresh fruits farm vegetables, Vignoble Isle de Bacchus & La Maison du Vignoble a winery producing white, rosé and red wine. Wine tasting in the cellar, tours of the vineyard and lastly, La Boulange/the Bakery.

Culinary Walking Tour: Throughout the years, the food of Quebec has been influenced by the Amerindian, British and French cuisines. The Food Tour offers the opportunity to discover these different culinary and cultural traditions. During this walking tour, you will taste the typical and local specialties from a variety of shops. Quebec City - Sherbrooke (235 km)

Cross the St. Lawrence River and head south into the historic Eastern Townships of Quebec, where some of Canada's most picturesque countryside and communities await you, rich in Anglo-Saxon charm and Quebecois joie de vivre. Duck is the specialty of this region and you may visit the breeding grounds to learn more about the cuisine.

Eastern Townships: At leisure

Local wine producers are famous in this area. Several vineyards offer different activities such as guided tours and tasting of wine, cider and hydromel. The Eastern Township's history of Abenaki natives, America Loyalists and French Canadians weaves a fascinating heritage.

Sherbrooke - Ottawa (375 km)

As you travel back towards Montreal enroute to Ottawa you could take a detour to the Cidrerie-Michel-Jodoin located in Rougemont to visit the facility and enjoy a tasting. We also highly recommend a stop at the Chocolate museum / Chocolaterie La Cabosse d'Or located in Otterburn Park. Upon arrival in Ottawa enjoy the ByWard Market, a colorful outdoor farmers' market. The surrounding streets house cafés, restaurants and boutiques. Perhaps, take a lantern-lit evening walking tour of Ottawa.

Ottawa - Toronto (420 km)

Before you depart Ottawa visit the parliament buildings, see the changing of the guard, stroll along the banks of the Rideau Canal. Depart in the early afternoon for Toronto, Canada's largest metropolis combining modern sophistication of a world-class city with the friendly charm of its multicultural neighbourhoods and colourful markets.

Toronto: At leisure

After your included activity today you may wish to take in the waterfront, marvel at the famous Rogers stadium, or enjoy the view from the CN tower.

St. Lawrence Market Walking Tour: This unique two hour tour includes a guided walk through St. Lawrence Market hearing about its fascinating 200 year history. Then after covering the Market we'll go walk around Old Town Toronto including stops at: St. Lawrence Hall, King Edward Hotel, St. James Cathedral as well as various historical sites along the way. (May 15-Oct 15 at 11:00, Tuesday to Saturday)

Toronto - Niagara Falls (128 km)

Enjoy a leisurely drive around Lake Ontario to Niagara Falls, for your final 2 nights of the tour.

Niagara Region

Further along the shores of Lake Ontario you will reach the historic town of Niagara-on-the Lake, home to many cottage wineries. Leave the car at the hotel, and enjoy a bus tour to the wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Later in the evening enjoy a unique final night dinner.

Wine Country Bus Tour: Guided bus tour of Niagara-on-the-Lake wine region with tour and tastings at some of the finest Niagara wineries; Pilliteri Estates, Reif Estates, Inniskillin and Small Talk Vineyards. Free time for lunch and shopping in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Illumination Tower Dinner Experience: Enjoy dinner at Elements on the Falls and afterword proceed to the Illumination Tower in Queen Victoria Park where you will change the lights on Niagara Falls in real-time. Each guest receives a commemorative certificate.

Exclusions: Fuel, Personal Accident Insurance Plus (PAI Plus) & Personal Effects Protection (PEP), other optional services such as refueling charges, applicable one-way fees, extra additional driver's fee, GPS, baby seats, ski racks, etc. Province of Quebec Tire Management Fee - Applicable year round: $3.60 per day + applicable taxes and fees - payable at the rental counter/subject to change.
