Itinerary

Day 1

Depart Canada

Overnight flight to Seoul’s international airport.

Day 2

Welcome to Seoul

Upon arrival at Seoul’s international airport, a dedicated local representative/tour guide will greet you at the airport exit with an Air Canada Vacations sign and escort you to your hotel to check-in. The airport to hotel transfer will be on a shared service on board of an air-conditioned vehicle. The rest of the day will be at your leisure.

Day 3

Seoul - Andong - Daegu

After breakfast, you will be transferred on an air-conditioned vehicle to visit the traditional Village of Andong. This picturesque village features traditional houses of the Joseon Dynasty period (1392-1897).

Afterwards, you will be transferred to Daegu to visit the Daegu Donghwasa Temple, located on the southern slopes of Mt. Palgongsan (1193 m).

Day 4

Daegu - Busan

After breakfast, you will be transferred on an air-conditioned vehicle to Busan, to visit Haedong Yonggungsa (East Sea Dragon Palace Temple), situated on the coast of the north-eastern portion of the city of Busan, and overlooking the ocean.

Your next stop will be a visit to Nurimaru APEC House, a memorial hall and prestigious international conference hall located near Haeundae Beach, here you will have breathtaking and spectacular views of the nearby natural landscape.

Afterwards, you will have an opportunity to view the waves while looking down through the transparent floor of the 15-metre high Oryukdo Skywalk, which is set over a 35-metre-high coastal cliff.

Right after, you will be transferred to the Gamcheon Culture Village situated on the foothills of the coastal mountains and nicknamed “The Machu Picchu of Busan.” You will be thrilled by the many alleys cutting through this village, vibrantly decorated with murals and sculptures created by the residents.

Your next stop on your way to Busan will be one of Korea’s largest markets, Nampo Dong Gukje Market for a wide variety of goods at affordable prices.

Day 5

Busan - Gyeongju - Seoul

After breakfast, you will spend the day exploring some of most iconic archaeological sites and temples, royal tombs, and monuments of Gyeongju, the capital of the ancient Silla Kingdom (57 BC – 935 AD). The visit includes: Royal Tumuli Park and Gyeongju National Museum.

After the sites you will enjoy a special Samgyetang lunch (chicken soup with ginseng) before your transfer back to Seoul.

Day 6

Seoul

After breakfast, you will start your day with a visit to the Gyeongbokgung Palace, the largest of the “Five Grand Palaces” built by the Kings of the Jeoson Dynasty.

After the visit to the Palace, you will take a stroll through the vibrant neighborhood of Insadong, a street full of traditional Korean antique and art shops, restaurants, and tea houses, where you may try on a hanbok, the traditional attire of the Korean people (a great opportunity for a photoshoot). We will visit a Ginseng Centre and a cosmetic shop (entrance to these locales is included however, personal purchases at these two visits are not included).

At lunch, a delicious and traditional Korea BBQ lunch awaits. Then stroll by the picturesque Cheonggyecheon Stream, which offers a tranquil retreat amidst the urban landscape and peaceful ambience.

Your last stop of the day will be a visit to Myeongdong, one of Seoul’s main commercial districts.

Day 7

Seoul

A day to explore Seoul at your own pace. There are several activities and places to explore that showcase the city's rich culture, history, and modernity; Seoul is a vibrant city with something for everyone, whether you're into history, shopping, food, or simply soaking up the local culture. You can also join the following optional tours.

  • Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) Half-day Tour with Traditional Lunch Included

    The highlights:

    • History of Korean War
    • Imjingak Park
    • Freedom Bridge
    • If permitted, we'll venture into the mysterious 3rd Tunnel
    • Dora Observatory
    • Detailed explanation by the tour guide about the daily life in the village of Kijongdong across the river

    Note: The site visits may change depending on availability and capacity of some visited sites.

    Transfer back to the hotel in the afternoon.

    Notes: Due to the high demand of DMZ, daily number of visitors are limited. Entry permits will only be granted on a first-come first-serve basis. If there’s an unannounced official event or unforeseen situation in the DMZ, the program will be cancelled and replaced by Paju tour.

  • Paju Half-day Tour with Traditional Lunch Included

Day 8

Seoul - Osaka

After breakfast, you will be transferred on an air-conditioned vehicle to Seoul’s International Airport for your Seoul-Osaka flight (included). Upon arrival at Kansai’s international airport, a dedicated local representative/tour guide will greet you at the airport exit with an Air Canada Vacations sign. Your local representative will assist you with your transfer; the transfer from the hotel to the airport will be on your own. After you check-in at your hotel, the rest of the day is at your leisure.

Day 9

Osaka - Nara - Osaka

After breakfast, you will be transferred on board an air-conditioned motorcoach to Nara, known for its iconic sites.

Your fist visit of the day will be the Todai-ji Temple, one of Japan’s most famous and historically significant temples, constructed in the 8th century. In its huge area houses various national treasures of Japan. Step foot in the Daibutsuden (Great Buddha Hall), housing the world’s largest bronze statue of the Buddha Vairocana.

Before departing back to Osaka, you will wander through the Nara Park, where over 1,200 wild sika deer roam free.

Upon returning to Osaka, you will then visit the Osaka Castle, which played a major role in the unification of Japan during the Azuchi-Momoyama period in the sixteenth century.

After this last visit, you will be dropped off at Dotonbori, a popular and lively entertainment district, which exemplifies Osaka’s vibrant food culture. You will have some free time to wander around this magnificent district; your return transfer from this attraction to your hotel is included.

  • Nara Park

    One of the oldest parks in Japan, located at the foot of Mount Wakakusa; named as one of the "Places of Scenic Beauty" where over 1,200 wild deer roam freely.

  • Osaka Castle

    One of Japan's most famous iconic landmarks where you will be able to explore the country’s rich history, while enjoying the beauty of its surroundings.

Day 10

Osaka

Today you will be your own tour guide! You will be able to visit other iconic places you may have missed, such as the Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine, take a stroll through the Nakanoshima Park or visit the Umeda Sky Building for breathtaking view of Osaka’s skyline!

  • Kansai Culture Day Tour with Traditional Lunch Included

    The highlights:

    • Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, with thousands of tall bamboo plants
    • The “Bamboo Alley,” one of Kyoto’s most photographed sights
    • Fushimi Inari-Taisha Shrine, one of the most sacred and impressive landmarks
    • Torii Gates, the most picturesque location on tour, and explore great photo opportunities along the ancient street
    • Experience a unique Tea ceremony and Wakashi making
    • The making of Japanese sweets called nerikiri, perfect for the tea ceremony and ideal for taking back home as a souvenir

    Then return to your comfortable vehicle for the relaxing journey back to your hotel.

Day 11

Osaka - Kyoto - Nagoya - Hamamatsu

After breakfast, you will be transferred on an air-conditioned vehicle to Kyoto. The once-capital of Japan and the emperor’s residence from 794 until 1868. Countless temples, shrines, and other historically priceless structures survive in the city today.

Note: Your coach transfer will leave from Kyoto to Nagoya and will wait for you there. Your luggage will be left on board of the coach while you continue with your program.

Your first stop will be Kinkakuji (also known as the Golden Pavilion), a World Cultural Heritage Site featuring a shining golden pavilion and a pond-centered garden. Visit the shining Kinkaku with two floors covered entirely in thin layers of pure gold and detailed architecture incorporating three distinct styles of Shinden, Samurai, and Zen.

The following visit will be the Higashi Hongan-ji, which is a religious complex of the Pure Land (Jodo Shinshu) Buddhism. Its monumental architecture renowned for being sheltered by the largest wooden roof in the world.

Right after the visit, you will be transferred to the Kyoto Station, from which you will be able to get a perfect shot of Kyoto tower and have lunch ($).

In the afternoon, experience a true modern marvel by riding the Shinkansen (bullet train) from Kyoto to Nagoya Station where the coach will be waiting for you to continue with the last stop of today’s program.

Upon arrival in Nagoya, you will visit the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology. Here you will learn about the history of Toyota which started out as a textile machinery manufacturer and how it became a successful mass exporter and manufacturer of automotive technology, including robots.

After this visit, you will be transferred to Hamamatsu and stay overnight.

Day 12

Hamamatsu - Gotemba - Fuji

After breakfast, you will visit Gotemba Peace Park to capture a breathtaking view of Mount Fuji, Oshino Hakkai. Known as the springs of Mount Fuji, the eight ponds are fed by melting snow filtering down from the slopes of nearby Mount Fuji, through porous layers of lava, resulting in very clear spring water that is revered by locals.

Your next stop will be a visit to a Sengenjinja Shrine. Enjoy the picturesque view of Mount Fuji from a distance onboard the cruise on Lake Kawaguchi, a crater lake famous for its views of the famous peak.

Finish the day with a true cultural experience and buffet dinner in our Hot Springs Hotel.

Day 13

Fuji - Tokyo

After breakfast you will visit the Meiji Shrine in the morning, dedicated to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji and his consort, Empress Shoken.

Your next stop today is Tokyo Metro to enjoy a panoramic view of enormous Tokyo city.

Later, you will take a stroll through the Sensoji Temple (Asakusa Kannon Temple), one of Tokyo’s most colorful and popular temples. 

Then walk along the famous 820-ft-long Nakamise Shopping Street where you can explore the lines of stalls selling different Japanese-style goods ($) and souvenirs ($).

Tokyo

Spend the day at leisure and explore bustling Tokyo. Perhaps discover Japanese history and art at a museum or indulge in some retail therapy at Tokyo’s cutting-edge stores - the choice is yours.
