Since 1868, Canadian politicians of various importance have been proposing to annex Turks and Caicos Islands, with the most recent proposal made in 2014 by an Edmonton MP when the Premier of the islands was visiting Canada. Nova Scotia even tried inviting the islands to join their province in 2004!
