Zagrebački odrezak (breaded and fried veal stuffed with ham and cheese), roast turkey with mlinci (flatbread), štrukli (pastries filled with cottage cheese) and knedli (sweetened, fruit-stuffed potato dumplings).
Fun fact
During the changing of the guard ceremony in St. Mark’s Square (every Saturday and Sunday at noon!), you might notice the guards’ bright-red neckties. In fact, Croatia is the birthplace of the necktie—or cravat. They were worn by Croat mercenaries in the 17th century and the word “cravat” stems from “Croat.” Think about that when you’re getting dressed for work.
