Fun fact
Built in 1961 to separate East and West Berlin, the Berlin Wall was the ultimate symbol of the Cold War. When it fell in 1989, East Berliners flocked west for a giant street party, with famous musicians from all-over flying over to perform for the crowds. Check out the largest remnants of the wall at the East Side Gallery and visit Checkpoint Charlie for more on the wall’s history.
