Visit Bangkok: Get Started

There’s a lot more to Bangkok than just it’s Buddhist history and architecture. Walk and shop at Chatuchak Market or go to the Damnoen Saduak district, home to one of Thailand’s most visited floating markets. After you’ve picked up delicious goodies from local food vendors, take a leisurely stroll at the multi-functional Lumpini Park before venturing out on a tour of the city.

What to eat

Traditional Thai dishes served throughout Bangkok include Moo Yang (Honey Roast Pork), Kanom Jeeb (Thai Steamed Dumplings), and of course, the all-time favourite, Pad Thai.

What to bring back

We recommend you bring back a couple of souvenirs from your trip, such as handmade bags and silverware, carvings, herbal remedies and trinkets, which you can purchase from all over the city or from street vendors. Make sure to bargain for a good deal!

When to visit Bangkok

We recommend going during the off-season, from July to October, when there are fewer crowds. The peak season is from November to February when the weather is drier.

Fun Fact

Though we tend to refer to the Thai capital as Bangkok, its actual name is far much longer. In fact, it has the longest name for a city in the entire world!

The full name is Krungthepmahanakhon Amonrattanakosin Mahinthara Yutthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udom Ratchaniwet Mahasathan Amonphiman Awatansathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukamprasit.
