Itinerary

Day 1

Depart Canada

Fly to Athens, Greece.

Day 2

Welcome to Athens

Upon your arrival at the airport in Athens, you’ll meet your driver to transfer to your hotel and check in. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 3

Athens: Sightseeing

After breakfast, you’ll depart at the scheduled time for your half-day sightseeing tour, featuring the Acropolis and the New Acropolis Museum.

    With your expert guide, you’ll discover the city’s highlights, including Constitution Square, the Parliament, the Memorial to the Unknown Soldier and the National Library. See Hadrian’s Arch, the Temple of Olympian Zeus and stop at the Panathenaic Stadium. At the Acropolis, you can admire the Propylaea, Temple of Athena Nike, Erechtheion and the iconic Parthenon.  Conclude the tour with a visit to the New Acropolis Museum before returning to your hotel for leisure time.

Day 4

Athens: At Leisure

Enjoy a full day at leisure in Athens. Explore Plaka, the city’s oldest neighbourhood, nestled beneath the Acropolis, where you can experience the charm of old Athens as it was a century ago. Alternatively, take time to shop along Ermou, Kolonaki and Voukourestiou streets.

Day 5

Athens - Grand Tour: Corinth Canal - Epidaurus - Nafplio - Mycenae – Olympia

Today, you’ll begin your 7-day Classical Grand tour of Athens. You’ll travel along the scenic coastal road to the Corinth Canal for a short stop, then continue to the Theatre of Epidaurus, renowned for its exceptional acoustics. You’ll then proceed to the charming town of Nafplio for a brief visit before heading to Mycenae to explore its Archaeological Site and the Tomb of Agamemnon. Continue your journey through the heart of the Peloponnese, passing the towns of Tripoli and Megalopolis, before arriving in Olympia, birthplace of the ancient Olympic Games.

Day 6

Grand Tour: Olympia – Delphi

In the morning, you’ll visit the Archaeological Site featuring the Sanctuary of Olympian Zeus, the Ancient Stadium, the location where the Olympic torch is lit for the modern Games and the Archaeological Museum. Continue your journey through the plains of Ilia and Achaia to the impressive bridge connecting Rion and Antirion across the Corinthian Bay. Pass through the charming towns of Naupactus (Lepanto) and Itea before arriving in Delphi.

Day 7

Grand Tour: Delphi - Kalambaka

Today, you’ll visit the Archaeological Site and Museum of Delphi, home to the most renowned oracle of the ancient world. Then continue to Kalambaka, a quaint town nestled at the base of Meteora—an extraordinary cluster of towering rock formations rising dramatically from the Thessalian plain.

Day 8

Grand Tour: Kalambaka - Monasteries of Meteora – Thessaloniki

Today, you’ll visit Meteora, where centuries-old monasteries perch atop towering rock pillars that appear to float in mid-air, showcasing remarkable examples of Byzantine art. Continue from Kalambaka to Thessaloniki, travelling through the breathtaking valley of the Aliacmon, Greece’s longest river. Arrive in Thessaloniki, the country’s second largest and most dynamic city.

Day 9

Grand Tour: Thessaloniki - Sightseeing

Start your day by exploring Thessaloniki, which, during the Byzantine Empire, was the “co-reigning” city, second only to Constantinople in importance and prestige. Discover its remarkable monuments and experience its illustrious Byzantine heritage through some of the oldest and most iconic churches in the Christian world. Visit the Museum of Byzantine Culture, recipient of the Council of Europe’s Museum Prize in 2005. The remainder of the day is free to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the city’s lively centre.

Day 10

Grand Tour: Thessaloniki- Visit

Depart in the morning to explore historic Macedonia. Stop first in picturesque Edessa to admire its famous waterfalls, then continue to Naoussa to visit Aristotle’s School, where he taught Alexander the Great. Proceed to Vergina (ancient Aigai) to tour the remarkable museum built within the Great Tumulus, housing the royal tombs of Macedonia, including that of King Philip II. Continue to Veria (Biblical Beroea) to see Saint Paul’s Bema and stroll through the old Jewish quarter and vibrant market streets.

Day 11

Grand Tour: Thessaloniki – Pella- Athens

Drive to Pella, the ancient capital of Alexander the Great, to admire the remarkable 4th-century B.C. mosaics in their original setting and in the new museum. Continue to the Archaeological Park of Dion, the sacred city of the Macedonians, located at the foot of Mount Olympus—home of the twelve Greek gods. On the return to Athens, travel through the Thessalian plain and the Valley of Tempi, passing Lamia, Thermopylae (with its Leonidas Monument) and Thebes, arriving in Athens late in the afternoon.

Day 12

Athens - Mykonos

Enjoy an early breakfast before your transfer to Athens port for your ferry to Mykonos.  Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel for check-in and spend the afternoon at leisure, enjoying the lovely atmosphere or exploring the volcanic island, known for its romance and beauty.

Day 13 - 14

Mykonos: At Leisure

Discover great art galleries as you stroll along the town’s winding, narrow streets, passing by brilliant white houses, beautiful windmills and chapels. Visit the Church of Panagia Paraportiani, soak up the sun on sandy beaches or enjoy a drink in the romantic neighbourhood of Little Venice.

Day 15

Mykonos - Athens - Return to Canada

After breakfast, take the transfer to the airport and board your flight to Athens for your connecting flight back home.
