Itinerary

Day 1

Depart Canada

Fly to Dublin.

Day 2

Welcome to Dublin

Pick up your car and travel into Dublin to check in to your hotel. The remainder of the day can be spent exploring this vibrant capital with its many historic buildings, Georgian streets and colourful gardens. Your first night is spent at a castle hotel in the Dublin area.

Day 3

Dublin

Explore some of Dublin’s finest museums and galleries. Visit Dublinia at Christchurch; a spitting image of medieval Dublin. Next, stop by the 16th century Trinity College, founded by Elizabeth 1 and now home to the famous Book of Kells manuscript. Don’t forget about the Guinness Storehouse for a tasting of its world famous ‘black stuff’ before you return to your hotel.

Day 4

Dublin – Galway

Leave Dublin and travel across rich midland pastures. Visit Belvedere House, Gardens and Park—the magnificent early 18th century stately home of Robert Rochfort, Earl of Belvedere. Then, arrive in Galway before continuing on to the Connemara region, famous for its lakes and mountains. Stay at Abbeyglen Castle, which features a panoramic view of Clifden.

Day 5

Connemara - Sightseeing

Visit Connemara National Park where ponies and red deer roam freely through 5,000 acres of scenic mountains, bogs and grassland. Visit the magnificent Kylemore Abbey—a neo-gothic mansion sitting against a mountainous backdrop. Take a scenic drive through Leenane where you have an option to take a Killary Fjord boat tour ($). Then, spend another night at Abbeyglen Castle.

Day 6

Connemara – Clare

Leave Clifden and travel south into Clare through the strange landscape of the Burren region or visit the Cliffs of Moher—a spectacular 5-mile-long cliff, which rises almost 200 metres above sea level. Stop in the heritage town of Kilrush before boarding a ferry to Tarbert in north County Kerry (ferry not included).

Day 7

Dingle Peninsula - Sightseeing

Drive around the Dingle Peninsula before arriving in Dunquin on the westernmost tip of the peninsula where you can visit the Blasket Centre. Weather permitting, embark on a 2 to 3-hour boat trip around the nine main Blasket Islands.

Day 8

Limerick – Dublin

Drive to Limerick and explore its history and architecture or purchase some of the splendid crafts on offer. Check out an exhibition of Ireland’s greatest private collections of art and antiquities at the Hunt Museum before leaving, then travel eastwards towards Straffan in County Kildare. Continue through rich pastures before arriving at Barberstown Castle, a 13th century castle where you’ll be staying overnight.

Return to Canada

After breakfast, return your rental car at the airport and board your return flight back to Canada.
