Culinary & Whisky Tour

Overview

Experience the best of Scotland’s food and drink offerings on this 8-day tour, meeting local producers along the way. You’ll begin in Glasgow, then head onwards to Oban, where you’ll explore one of Scotland’s oldest distilleries, which dates back to 1794. You’ll pause for a must-see visit to Loch Ness on your way to Speyside, then tour a local farm in the area. You’ll then drive south to Aberdeen and have the option to discover one of the local cheese farms, as well as visit St Andrews on the way to Edinburgh. While in Edinburgh, you’ll visit Edinburgh Castle or choose to embark on a food walking tour through the old town.

Itinerary

Day 1

Depart Canada

Fly to Edinburgh.

Day 2

Edinburgh – Glasgow

Upon arrival in Edinburgh, pick up your car at the airport and make your way to your hotel In the Glasgow area.  The remainder of the day at your leisure.

Stay overnight in Glasgow.

    You can always visit Tennent’s Brewery for a tour and tasting of their award-winning beers brewed near the historic Cathedral Precinct.  

Day 3

Glasgow – Oban

After breakfast, depart Glasgow and drive along Loch Lomond to the seaside town of Oban. Explore Oban’s shops, pubs, and restaurants.

    Visit the Oban Distillery, one of Scotland’s oldest, founded in 1794. Oban Distillery takes its name from the town where the Highlands meet the Islands and nestles below the steep cliff that overlooks Oban. This coastal location is accurately reflected by the character of the Oban 14-year-old single malt whisky. Meet the knowledgeable guides and learn about the ancient art of distilling.

Day 4

Oban – Loch Ness - Speyside

After breakfast, Drive from Oban to Speyside via Loch Ness. Pass through Fort William.

    Stop at Spean Bridge’s woollen mill for a visit. Enjoy stunning views at Urquhart Castle on the shores of Loch Ness. Drive through Inverness to reach your accommodation in Speyside.

Speyside

Explore Speyside’s famous whisky distilleries.

    Visit whisky distilleries such as Glenfiddich, Macallan, and The Glenlivet. Visit the Speyside Cooperage to see whisky cask production from oak. Stop at Dean’s of Huntly to taste locally made shortbread with tea or coffee.

Speyside – Aberdeen / Cattle & Castles

After breakfast, discover Royal Deeside.

Day 7

Aberdeen – Edinburgh / Cheese & Haggis

After breakfast, drive south from Aberdeen, stopping in Arbroath.

You’ll begin the day driving south from Aberdeen, stopping in Arbroath to sample Arbroath Smokies. You’ll then head to St Andrews to visit St Andrews Cheese Farm and learn about locally produced cheese. While there, you can explore St Andrew’s Cathedral, its scenic and dramatic golf courses and the University of St. Andrews, Scotland’s oldest founded in 1413. You’ll arrive in Edinburgh for a Scottish evening featuring haggis and entertainment.

    Take an open-top bus tour of Edinburgh, exploring both the New Town and Old Town. You’ll visit Edinburgh Castle atop an extinct volcano and then join a food walking tour to taste various Scottish delights.

Return Home

After breakfast, you’ll return your car at Edinburgh Airport before boarding your return flight home.

*Due to early flights back to Canada, we recommend returning your car the day prior to avoid delays.
