Itinerary

Day 1

Depart Canada

Fly to Rome. 

Day 2

Welcome to Rome

Upon arrival at the airport, you’ll take your transfer to your hotel and check-in. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy at your leisure.

Day 3

Rome: At Leisure

After breakfast, spend the day exploring the city as you wish.

Day 4

Rome – Orvieto

After breakfast, you’ll make your way to Termini train station to pick up your car.  On the way from Rome to Orvieto, you’ll stop at Civita di Bagnoregio, a magical hilltop village that can only be reached by footbridge.

You’ll continue to Lago di Bolsena, Italy’s largest volcanic lake, where you can pause for lunch or even enjoy a refreshing swim. If time allows, you’ll make a detour to Tivoli, home to the Renaissance masterpieces of Villa d’Este and Villa Adriana, surrounded by spectacular gardens.

    • While staying in Orvieto, you can also enjoy nearby excursions. Explore Todi, a lesser-known hill town with panoramic views, inviting piazzas and a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for a leisurely lunch in a historic setting. 
    • Alternatively, drive along Montefiascone and the Wine Road, celebrated for its Est! Est!! Est!!! white wine. Here, you can also visit a stunning cathedral and take in the lake views, making it an excellent choice for wine enthusiasts.

Day 5

Orvieto – Assisi

From Orvieto, you’ll drive towards Assisi with a stop in Perugia, known for its historic centre, chocolate production and artistic heritage. 

You’ll then continue to Foligno, where you can explore its lively food scene and medieval alleyways, before visiting Rasiglia, a fairytale-like village of streams and picturesque waterways.

Day 6 - 7

Assisi

From Assisi, you can take advantage of several worthwhile excursions. Here are our top recommendations.

    • Visit Spello, a postcard-perfect village with flower-lined streets and a relaxed atmosphere. 
    • Discover Cascate delle Marmore, impressive man-made waterfalls set amidst lush hiking trails. 
    • Wander through Gubbio, a beautifully preserved medieval town with sweeping views and a charming old quarter. 
    • Wine lovers will enjoy Montefalco, famous for its bold Sagrantino wines and countryside landscapes, while Bevagna offers Roman ruins, artisan shops and a peaceful, timeless feel. 
    • For a change of scenery, head to Lake Trasimeno, Umbria’s largest lake, where small villages, beaches and scenic ferry rides await.

Day 8

Assisi – Rome

On your return journey from Assisi to Rome, you’ll make your first stop in Spoleto, a town that blends medieval charm with impressive Roman architecture. You’ll then head next to Todi, a hilltop town offering panoramic views and opportunities to sample local wines. 

Before reaching Rome, you’ll explore Narni, a hidden gem known for its underground tours, ancient bridges and rich history.

You’ll then return your car rental at the Rome Termini train station and make your way to the hotel. The rest of the evening is at your disposal.

Day 9

Rome - Return to Canada

After breakfast, you’ll take your transfer to the airport for your return flight home.

    Car Rental Exclusions:

    Fuel, Parking fees, traffic violation tickets, additional driver fee, car upgrades, road assistance, toll fees and inter city toll fees, young driver surcharge under 26 years, additional insurance coverage, child car seats, luggage racks, additional rental nights, late drop-off fees. All extra services are payable at the rental counter.

    The minimum age for a car rental is 21 years old with a prepaid voucher. A valid driver's license issued for at least 12 months from the country of origin must be presented at the time of rental. All drivers under the age of 26 will be subject to a surcharge.
