Both cities are famously built on seven hills and offer unique views and experiences.

Day 1

Depart Canada

Fly to Madrid.

Day 2-5

Welcome to Madrid & Spain

Upon arrival, you’ll take a private transfer to your hotel, where you will spend the next 4 nights.

Madrid is a vibrant city rich in culture, history and entertainment. Here are some highlights for tourists:

Major Attractions

  • Prado Museum: Home to one of the finest collections of European art, featuring works by Goya, Velázquez and Bosch.
  • Royal Palace: The official residence of the Spanish royal family, showcasing stunning architecture and beautiful gardens.
  • El Retiro Park: A large and popular park in the city centre, perfect for a leisurely stroll or a boat ride.
  • Plaza Mayor: A grand central square surrounded by historic buildings, cafes and shops.
  • Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum: A vast collection of European paintings, complementing the nearby Prado.

    Take some time to acquaint yourself with Madrid while riding through the city aboard an open-top double-decker bus. With one ticket, you will be able to hop on and off the bus all day along the route of your choice or change to another, admiring the architectural and cultural magnificence of Madrid. Commentary is available via a headphones audio system in different languages.

Day 6-9

Madrid to Lisbon

After breakfast, make your own way to the airport in Madrid to take your flight to Lisbon. Upon arrival in Lisbon, make your own way to your hotel where you will spend the next 4 nights.

Lisbon is a vibrant city with a rich history, bold architecture and lively culture. Here are some highlights for your visit:

Major Attractions

  • Belém Tower: A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this iconic tower offers sweeping views of the Tagus River.
  • Jerónimos Monastery: Another UNESCO World Heritage Site, this impressive monastery showcases late Portuguese Gothic Manueline style architecture.
  • Alfama District: You can explore its narrow streets, enjoy traditional Fado music and browse its charming local shops.
  • São Jorge Castle: Enjoy panoramic views of the city from this historic castle.
  • Lisbon Oceanarium: One of the largest aquariums in Europe, it's great for families and marine life enthusiasts.

Culture & Cuisine

  • Fado Music: Experience traditional Fado performances in Alfama or Bairro Alto.
  • Culinary Delights: Try local dishes like Bacalhau à Brás (cod), Pastéis de Nata (custard tarts), and Bifana (pork sandwich).
  • Mercado da Ribeira: Enjoy this lively market with a variety of food stalls to sample local delicacies.

Day Trips

  • Sintra: A picturesque town with stunning palaces and gardens, just a short train ride away.
  • Cascais: A beautiful coastal town known for its beaches and charming streets.

    During this tour, you can explore Lisbon’s must-see areas and landmarks like the Belem Neighbourhood, where you’ll glimpse  the Belém Tower and the Discovery Monument. You can also visit the Jerónimos Monastery, then follow the riverbank towards Commerce Square and the Alfama Neighbourhood (Moorish Legacy). Finally, you’ll visit the Pombaline Downtown area and head towards Rossio Square, Liberty Avenue and Marquis of Pombal Roundabout.

Return Home

It’s time to say goodbye to Portugal. You’ll take a private transfer to the airport for your return flight home.
