Fly to Porto.
Day 2
Welcome to Porto & Northern Portugal
Upon arrival, you’ll pick up your car at the Porto airport and proceed to your hotel, where you will spend the next 2 nights. There will be plenty of time to discover the second largest city in Portugal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its breathtaking Baroque architecture, cultural richness and famous wines. Explore this beautiful city on the Douro riverbanks at your leisure.

Porto tour by Tuk Tuk and Six Bridges River Cruise (1 Hour 45 minutes)
Explore the enchanting city of Porto aboard a comfortable Tuk Tuk. Discover Porto's iconic landmarks and picturesque neighbourhoods. Immerse yourself in the city's vibrant culture and rich history, passing by the Clérigos Tower, Aliados Avenue, the São Bento Railway Station, the Porto Cathedral, the Stock Exchange Palace, Santa Catarina Street and the Ribeira neighbourhood. At the end of the tour, experience the Porto Six Bridges Cruise. (not included – entrance tickets to monuments)

Porto - Amarante - Vila Real - Douro Valley
After breakfast, you’ll check out of your hotel in Porto and head east towards the Douro Valley, a charming and unique region in the North of Portugal classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Stop at the Romanesque town of Amarante on the Tâmega River, where the locals battled Napoleon’s army in 1763, before continuing on to Vila Real for a visit to Casa de Mateus, an exquisite 18th-century Baroque manor house.
Spend an overnight in the Douro Valley.

Douro Valley - Peso da Regua - Pinhão
After breakfast, it’s time to explore the charming and unique Douro Valley. Peso da Régua played a fundamental role in the production and sale of Port wine, where barrels were transported in the special boats known as “Rabelos.” Visit the Douro Museum (not included).
Drive to Pinhão and admire beautiful views and the terraced slopes where the vines are grown along the river. See the historic and charming train station, famous for its azulejo (tile) panels depicting the history of wine in the region.

Douro - Lamego - Viseu - Aveiro - Porto
Today, you’ll check out of your hotel and drive to the Catholic pilgrimage town of Lamego and see the “Nossa Senhora dos Remédios” Sanctuary. You’ll then continue to Viseu, a crossroad of the Iberian Peninsula since the Roman occupation and home to the Dão wine region. Finally, you’ll proceed to Aveiro and visit the “Portuguese Venice,” known for its river channels, and see the 15th-century Cathedral and the “Convento de Jesus.”

Discover the Northern Region
Enjoy a day at your leisure to discover the Northern Region of Portugal.
Today, you can drive to Guimarães, considered the cradle of Portugal with its Medieval historical centre, then continue to Braga, one of the oldest religious cities in the world, known as the “City of Archbishops.” Visit the sanctuaries that constitute the faith triangle: the Cathedral and the Sanctuaries of Our Lady of Sameiro and Bom Jesus do Monte. You can then proceed to Ponte de Lima and the beautiful Viana do Castelo. Finally, you continue on to Barcelos, visiting the town that was the first county in Portugal. You’ll then return to Porto, driving by the coast and passing Vila do Conde.
