Itinerary

Day 1

Depart for Deer Lake, Newfoundland

Upon arrival in Deer Lake, you'll make your own way to the hotel. The rest of the day is yours at leisure.

Day 2

Deer Lake - Rocky Harbour

Today, you'll meet your local leader and fellow travellers during the welcome meeting held at 8:00 AM. Following the introduction and tour briefing, you'll set off for the spectacular Gros Morne National Park, one of Canada’s most celebrated natural treasures.

Your travel time today will be approximately 2.5 hours.

  • Gros Morne National Park - Tableland Trail

    Walk across the Earth’s mantle at the Tablelands, where the striking orange terrain contrasts sharply with the surrounding greens and blues. Keep an eye out for the area’s unique plant life, which adds to this otherworldly landscape.

  • Rocky Harbour - Lobster Cove Lighthouse visit

    Continue south on a scenic drive to explore the historic Lobster Cove Lighthouse and take in views of rolling waves and rugged beaches below.

Day 3

Rocky Harbour

After breakfast, you'll start the day with stops at Norris Point and Green Point, then stroll along the Western Brook Pond Trail and take in the view before boarding the Western Brook Pond boat tour.

    Don’t forget your camera to capture the dramatic waterfalls, towering cliffs and abundant wildlife of this glacier-carved landlocked fjord.

Day 4

Rocky Harbour - Twillingate Visit

This morning, you'll travel on the scenic route from Rocky Harbour to Twillingate, with a stop at Deer Lake along the way. In the late afternoon, you'll join the boat tour.

Your travel time today will be approximately 5 hours.

  • Twillingate - Seabird & whale watching boat tour

    Set out on a boat tour to spot whales and seabirds as you scan the surrounding waters. In spring, you may also see icebergs drifting through Iceberg Alley. Afterwards, you'll return to your hotel to relax or take some time to explore Twillingate, famously known as “The Iceberg Capital of the World.

Day 5

Twillingate - Trinity: Visit

After breakfast, you'll stop at the Boyd’s Cove, Beothuk Interpretation Centre, followed by a stop in the town of Gander, where you'll meet with a local and gain insight into the remarkable role this modest community played during one of North America’s most significant moments in history before heading to Trinity.  

Your travel time today will be approximately 4.5 hours.

  • Boyd's Cove - Beothuk Interpretation Centre

    You'll visit this centre and learn of the Indigenous Beothuk people who used to live in Newfoundland. You may wish to leave an offering at the nearby Spirit Garden in remembrance of this lost culture.

  • Gander - Chat with a local

    When North American airspace was closed on 9/11, approximately 6,600 passengers were diverted to Gander, increasing the town’s population by 70% in just a few hours. Learn how the community came together to host this unprecedented number of visitors and discover the lasting impact the event has had on the town. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to Trinity.

  • Trinity - Walking tour with a local guide

    Learn about Trinity’s history and its Beothuk, French, Irish and English influences. After, you might like to hike up Gun Hill for a bird’s-eye view of the town.

Day 6

Trinity: Visit

Today, you'll start the drive towards Elliston and Cape Bonavista Lighthouse.

  • Elliston - Puffin viewing

    It’s time to spot puffins at Elliston’s renowned viewing site, which offers one of the closest land views of puffins in North America. See if you can also spot the Puffin King, a rock formation which looks like a puffin sitting on a throne.

  • Bonavista - Lighthouse visit

    Drive 20 minutes north to visit the historic Cape Bonavista Lighthouse, which is one of the most photographed places in Newfoundland. Climb the stairs to the top of the tower and see the oil-fueled light that was used in the 1800s.

Day 7

Trinity - St. John's: Sightseeing

Today, you'll travel from Trinity to St. John’s, enjoying the scenic coastal landscapes along the way. You'll stop at the iconic Cape Spear Lighthouse before arriving at your hotel. Later, you'll join your group for a guided walking tour of St. John’s.

Enjoy a free afternoon before gathering for a farewell dinner celebrating your journey.
