Itinerary
Day 1
Depart for St. John’s, Newfoundland
Upon arrival in St. John’s, you'll make your own way to the hotel. Meet your group and local leader at 10 AM for a welcome meeting, then head out for a leader-led walking tour of the city.
Later, join your group for a welcome dinner at Celtic Hearth and savour Jigg’s dinner pie, a traditional Newfoundland favourite. Then continue to a local pub for a lively “screech-in” ceremony, where you’ll sample local rum and take part in one of Newfoundland’s most memorable traditions.

You'll drive up Signal Hill for panoramic views of St. John’s Harbour, then stop along the colourful streets of Jellybean Row, one of the city’s most iconic sights.

St John’s – Cape Spear Lighthouse
In the afternoon, you'll continue to Cape Spear Lighthouse, where you can take in dramatic coastal scenery and stand at Canada’s easternmost point.

Day 2
St. John's - Trinity
After breakfast, you'll set off to the town of Trinity and join a local guide for a walking tour of the town.

You'll learn about Trinity’s history and its Beothuk, French, Irish and English influences. After, you might like to hike up Gun Hill for a bird’s-eye view of the town.

Trinity: Visit
After breakfast, you'll drive towards Elliston and Cape Bonavista Lighthouse.

Elliston - Puffin viewing
It is time to spot puffins at Elliston’s renowned viewing site which offers one of the closest land views of puffins in North America. See if you can also spot the Puffin King, a rock formation which looks like a puffin sitting on a throne.

Bonavista - Lighthouse visit
You'll drive 20 minutes north to visit the historic Cape Bonavista Lighthouse which is one of the most photographed places in Newfoundland. You'll climb the stairs to the top of the tower and see the oil-fueled light that was used in the 1800s.

Day 4
Trinity - Twilingate: Visit
This morning, you'll travel to the town of Gander, where you'll meet with a local and gain insight into the remarkable role this modest community played during one of North America’s most significant moments in history.

When North American airspace was closed on 9/11, approximately 6,600 passengers were diverted to Gander, increasing the town’s population by 70% in just a few hours. Learn how the community came together to host this unprecedented number of visitors and discover the lasting impact the event has had on the town. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to Twillingate.

Twillingate - Seabird & Whale watching boat tour
This afternoon, you'll set out on a boat tour to spot whales and seabirds as you scan the surrounding waters. In spring, you may also see icebergs drifting through Iceberg Alley. Afterwards, you'll return to your hotel to relax or take some time to explore Twillingate, famously known as “The Iceberg Capital of the World.”

Day 5
Twillingate – Rocky Harbour
After breakfast, you'll stop at the Boyd’s Cove Beothuk Interpretation Centre. You'll continue your journey with stops to stretch your legs at Norris Point and Green Point along the way. Arrive in Rocky Harbour in the afternoon. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Your travel time today will be approximately 5 hours.

Visit and learn about the Indigenous Beothuk people who used to live in Newfoundland. You may wish to leave an offering at the nearby Spirit Garden in remembrance of this lost culture.

Rocky Harbour
After breakfast, you'll start the day with a stroll along the Western Brook Pond Trail and take in the view before boarding the Western Brook Pond Boat Tour.

Rocky Harbour - Deer Lake
After breakfast, you'll make a final visit to Gros Morne National Park, before continuing to Deer Lake.

- Rocky Harbour: The walking trail to the boat dock is 3 km long (approximately a 45-minute walk) on a gravel path. For those with walking difficulties, a golf cart shuttle is now available for a fee, payable locally in cash, subject to availability.
