1. Faro Bar, La Romana, Dominican Republic

On the shores of the Caribbean Sea, a dramatically striped lighthouse set against the bluest of skies, makes for the perfect shot. Having a drink at this bar at Iberostar Selection Hacienda Dominicus is reserved for hotel guests, but even if you’re not staying there, you can still get some great photos for your feed, enjoy the warm, shallow water and do some souvenir shopping on Dominicus beach.

2. Willemstad, Curaçao

Step into the past in the historic town of Willemstad, Curaçao’s capital. Along the water in Punda, the city’s oldest quarter, is a row of brightly painted, photo-worthy 18th century houses known as Handelskade, where you can sit in a cafe and get some shots of the Queen Emma Pontoon Bridge letting ships through. Or walk across the bridge and snap a selfie with the city’s candy-coloured skyline in the background.

4. Finca Vigía, Havana, Cuba

Ernest Hemingway's house, now a museum known as Finca Vigía, is where the American writer lived for many years – and it’s where he wrote his award-wining novel The Old Man and the Sea. Movie-inspired moment: the hunting trophies, old typewriter and shelves full of worn books remind us of a Wes Anderson film.

The pastel architecture lining Front Street in Hamilton, home to shops and restaurants, creates the ideal backdrop for an afternoon of wandering and impromptu photos. 7. Schoelcher Library, Martinique

Built in France in 1889 and then shipped piece by piece to Martinique, this beautiful library features the collection of French abolitionist Victor Schoelcher. Step inside to see photo-worthy details like elegant metalwork and a magnificent Byzantine glass dome, designed by architect Henri Pick, who worked on its construction in the Jardin des Tuileries.
