Refunds for Vacations Cancelled Due to COVID-19

Starting on April 13, 2021, Air Canada Vacations will begin accepting and processing refund requests from eligible customers whose vacations were cancelled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Air Canada Vacations Refund Policy at a Glance

Our revised policy covers trips cancelled by Air Canada Vacations or by the customer.

You have the option to request a refund for any reason if:

  • Your booking was made before April 13, 2021 for scheduled travel on or after February 1, 2020
  • You made your reservation directly through Air Canada Vacations or a travel agent
  • Your vacation was cancelled as a result of COVID-19

Once fully processed, all refunds will be applied to the original form of payment. Air Canada Vacations will not be charging any service fees for the processing of your refund request. Please note that we will only accept requests for refunds online from April 13 to June 12, 2021, inclusively.

How to request a refund

If your booking was made directly through Air Canada Vacations, please submit your request using the form below. Please ensure to enter the correct booking number into the form. Air Canada Vacations booking numbers must be 8 digits long and begin with a 2 or 3, with no letters or special characters.

When the refund has been fully processed, the amount will be applied directly to your original form of payment.

Please note that regular terms and conditions will apply to any refund requests made after June 12, 2021 at 11:59pm EST.

If your booking was made through a travel agency, please contact your travel agent to have them submit a request on your behalf.

Processing Time

We're working hard to process incoming requests as quickly as possible. Due to the high volume of requests, files will only be processed through the online form above, in the order in which they are received. Once you've submitted your request, there's no additional action needed on your end. If there is an issue with your file, we will contact you using the information provided in your form. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Future Bookings

All vacation packages purchased on April 13, 2021 and beyond will be subject to our regular terms and conditions.

In cases where a customer's flight is cancelled by Air Canada Vacations, we will now offer all customers the choice of receiving a refund.

FAQ

Is there a deadline to request a refund under this policy?
Yes. Please submit your request using the online form before 11:59 pm EST on June 12, 2021. Any requests submitted after this deadline will be subject to our regular terms and conditions.
What should I do if I want to keep my future travel credit?
If you want to keep your future travel credit, there's no action required on your end. When it's time to book your next vacation, simply apply your existing credit with no expiry date.
How do I request a refund if I booked my cancelled vacation through a travel agent?
Please contact your travel agent and ask them to submit the request on your behalf, using the online form between April 13 and June 12, 2021.
The travel agency I booked through is closed. What do I do now?
If your travel agency is closed, you can submit the request for a refund directly through our online form between April 13 and June 12, 2021.
I am holding a future travel credit for a cancelled group booking, am I eligible for a refund?
If you are holding a future travel credit for a cancelled Group vacation, you are also eligible for a refund. To request a refund, please complete the online form.
I am holding a future travel credit for a cancelled cruise booking, am I eligible for a refund?
Certain cruise lines were offering their customers the opportunity to keep their future cruise credit or request a refund for the cruise-only portion of their package. As a result, you are only eligible for a refund of the air portion of your vacation package. To request a refund, please complete the online form.
I purchased CareFree and CareFlexPlus and redeemed the program to cancel my vacation. Am I eligible for a refund?
Yes, you are eligible for a refund. To request a refund, please complete the online form.
I booked using my Aeroplan points and am now holding a future travel credit for my cancelled vacation. Am I eligible for a refund?
Yes, you will be credited your Aeroplan points. Please note, it may take up to 6 weeks for the credited points to be reflected on your account. To request a refund, please complete the online form.
I used my future travel credit to book a vacation package and now have a credit for the residual value. Can I get a refund for the residual value?
Yes, you're eligible for a refund for the residual value of your future travel credit. To request a refund, please complete the online form.
I transferred my future travel credit to another person; can that person get a refund?
Future travel credits can only be refunded in the original form of payment. If your future travel credit was transferred to another person, you may not request a refund.
How long will it take for refunds to be processed?
Given the significant volume of changes, we are working as quickly as possible to process refunds in the order in which they are received, as of April 13, 2021. We appreciate your patience as we work hard to process your requests.
Will you contact me once my refund is completed?
Once your refund has been automatically applied to your original form of payment, you will receive an invoice reflecting this change.
I just rebooked using my future travel credit, can I get a refund?
If you rebooked using your future travel credit, you are eligible for a refund. To request a refund, please complete the online form.
