Fun fact
Swiss chocolate plays a unique role during the popular festival of L’Escalade, which celebrates the Protestant city’s victory against an invading Catholic army in 1602. A tall tale claims a woman helped by pouring hot soup on the soldiers! Celebrated every December 11, festivities include smashing a chocolate replica of a soup cauldron and yelling "ainsi périrent les ennemis de la République!" (thus perished the enemies of the Republic).
