New York Yankees baseball cap, literary finds from the Strand Book Store, apparel from Canal Street (designer-inspired?) and NYC-branded souvenirs from the CityStore, MoMA Design Store or other museum gift shops.
What to eat
New York City staples: a slice of pizza, bagels, pretzels and hot dogs, but also pastrami from a Jewish deli like Katz’s Delicatessen, New York cheesecake from Junior’s, Magnolia Bakery cupcakes and meals from every foodie stop you can fit in across neighbourhoods like Chinatown, Little Italy, Harlem and more!
Fun fact
The Capital of the World, the City So Nice, They Named It Twice, Fun City—none of New York City’s nicknames stuck except for one: the Big Apple. The moniker made its debut around local horse-racing tracks, with a sports columnist using it in his articles. The name then spread when jazz musicians of the 30s adopted it in their songs and it was also later used in a tourism campaign in the 70s.
