Fun fact
On April 2, 1513, while he was searching for the mythical Fountain of Youth, Spanish explorer Ponce de León stumbled on the state of Florida and named it Pascua de Florida, or feast of flowers, in honour of the new land’s fantastic flora. The event is celebrated today with Pascua Florida Day, an annual state holiday happening every April 2.
