When to visit
We recommend visiting during the country’s dry season, from December to April, when the weather is consistently warm with sunny blue skies.

What to eat
Start your day with mangú, the national breakfast of boiled plantains, eggs and salami, before moving onto manuta, a local freshwater fish fried up and served with plantains and lime. End the day with masa de cangrejo a la criolla, or creole-style crab meat sourced from local fisheries.

Laguna Redonda and Laguna Limón are the largest freshwater sources in the country, and they make up the Redonda and Limón Lagoon Natural Scientific Reserve protecting 53 square kilometres of pristine scenery and fauna.
